Moldova IT industry statistics (2026)

Every figure on this page is computed live from the HireMD directory — a manually verified catalogue of IT companies operating in Moldova. Companies are sourced from the Moldova IT Park registry, industry associations (ATIC and others), public tender awards, and direct submissions, then cross-checked against the company's own website, LinkedIn, and public work record. Only companies with a genuine Moldova operation (registered entity, local team, verifiable output) are included; shell subsidiaries and inactive listings are pruned during the routine audit pass.

Each profile carries a normalised set of dimensions — services, technologies, team size, city, hourly rate — so aggregate charts on this page are apples-to-apples rather than a bag of self-reported strings. Technologies and services are mapped to a controlled vocabulary before counting, which is why the technology bar chart shows "JavaScript" (one node) rather than the seven variants a raw scrape would produce.

The dataset refreshes as company profiles change. Aggregations on this page are recomputed on every render, so a company added or updated in the directory shows up here immediately. The "Last updated" label at the top of the page reflects the most recent structural change to the methodology or presentation. When we run a full audit pass — typically once a quarter — we publish a summary of what changed in the HireMD blog.

Moldova's IT sector is small in absolute terms and specialised in outcome. The engineering population is roughly an order of magnitude smaller than Poland's and several times smaller than Romania's or Ukraine's, but the concentration of senior product engineers — and the presence of a stable, favourable tax regime — makes it punch above its weight for nearshore delivery. The IT Park's flat 7% turnover tax (see our Moldova IT Park deep-dive on the payroll page) is the structural reason hourly rates for senior work land near $30–60/hr rather than the $80–120/hr common in neighbouring Poland or Romania, at comparable delivery quality.

Most of the local sector is concentrated in Chișinău, the capital, with a long tail of remote-first teams in smaller cities. The tech mix leans front-end and full-stack JavaScript / TypeScript, backend Node / Python / .NET, mobile React Native, and a growing AI cluster around LLM apps, MCP, and computer vision. The largest players — Endava, Pentalog, Amdaris, Coherent Solutions, EBS Integrator — are enterprise outsourcers with hundreds of engineers each; the mid-market is a mix of product agencies and design-build shops; the long tail is boutique studios and independent teams, many of whom appear in our directory alongside the giants.
